Operation Yolandah

SAGIP LEYTE
SAGIP SAGOY
November 2013

late post.....

This outreach program would not be possible without the help and support of my SOC, Fraternal brothers and to my cousins who left whatever they're doing to reach out, comfort and offer relief assistance to our fellow leytenos.
Most of SAGOY members hails from leyte, I myself included. We were saddened by the desctruction of this heartwrenching catastropic disaster.
The plan was to visit two towns in leyte that was hit by Super Typhoon Haiyan, also known as Yolanda. One is Palompon, my hometown and the second one is Isabel Leyte, where brod Aldrin resides.

Our town was not publicized by the media. As you all know, 99% of what you see in TV is either Tacloban, Ormoc and its neigboring towns. It was very well supported from different countries all over the world and its overwhelming.

Last Month, SOC had plans to trek in Danao, northern part of Cebu in Mt. Manghilao but was cancelled due to the recent earthquake that hit Central Visayas magnitude 7.2. Our budget for the said climb was converted to buy goods instead of using it to fund our personal activity and visited Bohol.

After the Earthquake, another tragedy strike "YOLANDA" dub as the strongest recorded super thyphoon in the World.
Again we encourage our brothers to join and help us organize relief operations and I was so overwhelmed by their support local and abroad.

Going to Leyte was the most exhausting and the busiest voyage of our lives but regardless of what we feel physically, it didn't bring us down (charot!). Instead, we feel blessed and excited. Together with Aldrin, SOC VP and Dia Mae, VP first lady, some friends and my cousins, we mixed ourselves into thousands of people crowding through the port, also wanting to go home to Leyte in November 15, 2013. It was tedious job of going into the ship but we all did and we arrived safely to our distanation. When we get to Palompon Port, Brod Aldrin and I part ways as he will make his way to Isabel Leyte, his hometown whereas I, in Palompon.

I'm thankful that my family and friends are safe. Yes, houses are roofless and walless but everyone is trying to help everyone inspite of what had happened. The outreach was so hearwarming, fullfilling and just so soul satisfying. I've never felt so much love from everyone. This goes to show that, united with everyones support, we can do everything to help and serve others.
