Summer Tramp

The City of blinding lights "Cebu City"

Summer Tramp!
by Roxane Saberon

While others are out for malling, beach outing and island hopping. We beat the heat through mountain climbing.

We are not PROs, we want to! But we love calling ourselves FRU, the Frustrated Mountaineers we are!

SOC FAMILY before take off!

We do trekking and climbing: for fun 'cause the old school 'tambay" is boring;
for experience 'cause our group loves exploring to see nature's skin beneath; and
to get together ' cause restaurants may feed our stomach well but the memories we have in every mountain we conquer are worth remembering and reminiscing.

The sun may tan our skin and the long trek may make our body swollen but the view we see each time we get to climb one mountain from another is priceless and each one is a masterpiece!

Last weekend, April 5 and 6, 2014, we had our second minor climb. Just like the first climb this year, we did a night trek going to Mt. Kan-irag (Sirao Peak) and this time we have few additional in the group namely: Jongski, Aprooot and Ashhhty. The way up there is much easier this time for 2 reasons: weather was fair and the trail was improved. It was a short 30-minute trek and just enough to heat up the cold night. The city view this time is much more visible, and oh so perfect for our shisha with bahalina jamming session.

We were all in deep slumber that night, the next day the sun has risen kissing our skin as early as 6AM. We geared ourselves with a good breakfast, caps, shades, scarves and arm pads were out for sun protection, we put out the tents and took a few some time for "selfie" pictures and we take off!

The sun stood still just above us, a perfect day to sweat , have fun under the sun, walk through the nature's  wonders, see the beautiful sceneries you can never see in the city, feel the cool air and just enjoy.

We found our way out at Barangay Budlaan. And from there, we travelled back to the city through a motorcycle.

The trek was fun-filled, knee shivering, heart pumping and life threatening. LOL

And after all, it was fulfilling! We became stronger as a group, closer than before, we've created another climbing story, we've extended our friendship to the new members and oh yeah we nailed it SAGOY!

Camping was never my way of chilling out. But now, it's going to be!
